Michelle was our first day-shift nurse in the NICU after our daughter was born. While every nurse we encountered during our stay was exceptional, Michelle truly stood out and went above and beyond in ways we will never forget.

As first-time parents, ending up in the NICU was certainly not part of our plan. We were terrified, overwhelmed, and unsure of what to expect. From the very beginning, Michelle was the steady, realistic rock we desperately needed. She was always transparent about the plan of care and took the time to ensure we fully understood what was happening, while gently reminding us that our daughter was in control. She consistently made herself available to answer questions and explain next steps, which brought us an immense sense of calm during a very uncertain time.

What truly set Michelle apart was her extraordinary compassion and willingness to advocate for our family. My husband's mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a couple of years ago, and meeting our baby was something she had hoped and prayed for. Our journey to parenthood ended up being much longer and more difficult than we ever anticipated, and at times it felt like we were racing the clock. Because of her diagnosis and the uncertainty surrounding it, it was incredibly important to us that my mother-in-law be able to meet our daughter as soon as possible.

Being in the NICU made this challenging due to visitor limitations, but Michelle immediately understood how meaningful this moment was for our family. She went out of her way to arrange a special exception so that my mother-in-law, father-in-law, my husband, and I could all be in the room together. Michelle thoughtfully coordinated the space so my mother-in-law could comfortably sit and hold her, and she even took the sweetest photos of our family during this moment. She made the entire experience feel seamless, calm, and incredibly special. This is a memory we will cherish forever, and it would not have been possible without Michelle's care and advocacy.

This moment is just one example of how Michelle consistently went above and beyond for us throughout our NICU stay. Her presence, communication, and compassion made an overwhelming experience feel manageable and supported.

She is not only an exceptional nurse clinically, but also a deeply compassionate human who made a lasting impact on our family during one of the most terrifying times of our lives. We will forever be grateful for the role she played in the beginning of our daughter's life.
