She is sensitive to my ambulatory difficulty and is patient and kind as I try to “walk” to the patient room.
Her performance of duties on my behalf has been exemplary. I appreciate that Lora is not a registered nurse but a licensed practical nurse. To me, there is no essential difference between her performance and the effort of an RN. She is as good as gold. Lora brings to her duties her experience, her intelligence, and her acute sensibility. Her generous enthusiasm every time I see her has been a source of both pleasure and support.
When I arrive for my appointment, Lora greets me warmly. She is sensitive to my ambulatory difficulty and is patient and kind as I try to “walk” to the patient room. She supports me so I don’t fall by taking my arm and staying close. She is affectionately sensitive to my Parkinson’s condition and makes every effort to keep me safe. She gives me her full attention and concentration. Words are simply inadequate to express my gratitude.
When in the office, she queries me to confirm my medications, questions me about any falls, and asks the right questions so that the doctor knows exactly what is going on with me neurologically. She gives me a feeling of security. Ancillary to this administrative process is the commonplaceness of a simple visit with the doctor. She gives the visit dimension and goes out of her way to gather all the pertinent information so that my valuable time with the doctor is well spent and in proportion to the visit. I give Lora “knowledge”, and she provides her deep experience in her answers. My honesty is answered by equal honesty. She ensures a direct line lies open between patient and physician. Her communication skills ensure a meaningful visit with the doctor.
Sometimes I have to communicate with the doctor via the “portal”. Lora is quick to respond, showing her generosity with her time. She has become a vital channel between the doctor and me. Sometimes I feel an unnerving atmosphere of thought. She examines my concerns and gives me the satisfaction of feeling at home through her quick and expert communication with the doctor. She is a grace note in my life.
Lora has a due and proper sense of what it is to be human and to genuinely care about me. Her humanity is a form of nobility. For that, I am profoundly grateful, and the deepest reason I am recommending her for The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Performance.
