Ms. Meredith checked in on me without being asked, explained things without making me feel silly, and somehow made me laugh (last night especially) when laughing should not have been an option.
From the moment Ms. Meredith walked into my room, I knew I was in good hands. Not just clinically competent hands but the kind of hands that managed to fix tape around my sensitive skin, and her touch calmed my anxiety. She's super sweet and extremely soft-spoken. In the middle of hospital beeps, charts, long shifts, etc, she brought warmth and genuine care that can't be taught in nursing school.
Ms. Meredith checked in on me without being asked, explained things without making me feel silly, and somehow made me laugh (last night especially) when laughing should not have been an option. She didn't just treat me as a patient; she treated me as a person. A nervous, tired, restless, irritated one who needed reassurance just as much as medication. What truly sets her apart is how effortless her kindness feels. Nothing about her care felt rushed. She made time even when I know time is the one thing she may not have enough of with her career. She listened, remembered the little things, and showed compassion in ways that she will never know mattered.
Nurses like Meredith don't just help people heal; they change how we remember the hard days. Because of her, a stressful hospital stay was filled with moments of comfort and trust. An absolute Rockstar. She's the kind of nurse every patient wants and/or needs. Ochsner is privileged to have a beautiful, caring, professional lady like her.
