She approaches every challenge with determination, never giving up until the best solution is found.
It is with great pride and deep respect that I nominate Jeanetta Wammack, RN, CDN, for the DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award. Jeanetta exemplifies the very essence of this recognition through her distinguished career, unwavering commitment to excellence, and profound impact on patients, families, and the nursing profession. Jeanetta has dedicated over 30 years to nursing, beginning her career as a Registered Nurse in 1994 and specializing in nephrology since 1999. Her career spans both adult and pediatric dialysis, with a transition to pediatric care in 2018 that further highlights her adaptability and passion for serving vulnerable populations.

Throughout her tenure, she has served in multiple roles, including nurse manager, consistently demonstrating leadership, clinical expertise, and a deep commitment to advancing nephrology nursing. A lifelong learner and advocate for professional development, Jeanetta actively engages in organizations that shape and elevate nursing practice, including the American Nephrology Nurses Association, the SCOPE Collaborative through the Children’s Hospital Association, and the National Kidney Foundation. Her dedication to excellence is evident in her earning the highest national score on the Certified Dialysis Nurse exam in 2019. In 2023, she was honored with the prestigious Carol Mattix Award from the National Kidney Foundation, recognizing her exceptional contributions to nephrology nursing.

Jeanetta is widely recognized as a transformational leader and a trusted expert in peritoneal dialysis. She is the “go-to” resource for her colleagues, generously sharing her extensive knowledge and mentoring others to grow in their practice. Her involvement in dialysis QAPI initiatives and contributions to USNWR data collection reflect her commitment to improving outcomes and advancing quality care at both the local and national levels. Above all, Jeanetta is a fierce and tireless advocate for her patients. She consistently goes above and beyond to ensure that each patient—especially those receiving peritoneal dialysis—has access to the highest quality care and the resources they need to thrive. She approaches every challenge with determination, never giving up until the best solution is found. Her ability to combine clinical excellence with deep compassion enhances the patient and family experience in meaningful and lasting ways.

Jeanetta’s positive attitude is both inspiring and contagious. She encourages her team to find the good in every situation, fostering a culture of resilience, respect, and teamwork. She treats every individual—colleagues, families, and even the smallest patients in her care—with dignity and kindness, embodying the true spirit of nursing. Jeanetta Wammack’s legacy is one of excellence, leadership, advocacy, and compassion. She has not only shaped the lives of countless patients and families but has also influenced generations of nurses and the broader nephrology community. She is a true role model and an enduring champion for the nursing profession. For these reasons and more, I can think of no one more deserving of the DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award than Jeanetta Wammack.
