I would like to recognize Aprilea Hillard for the extraordinary compassion, leadership, and support she demonstrated following a code event on B4E while she was charging on B4W.
During the code, Aprilea stepped in without hesitation, providing not only clinical expertise but also calm, steady guidance to the team during a high-stress and emotional situation. Her presence brought clarity and confidence to the staff when it was needed most. What truly set Aprilea apart, however, was what she did after the event. She returned later that same day to check on the team, ensuring everyone was coping and had what they needed following such a difficult experience.
Her commitment didn’t stop there—she came back again the following morning to check in on the staff for a second day, reinforcing that their well-being mattered. One of the most impactful moments was how Aprilea supported a new nurse who had just experienced her first patient death. She took the time to nurture, guide, and comfort her, creating a safe space to process the experience. In doing so, she not only supported that individual nurse but also modeled what it truly means to care for one another as a team.
Aprilea reminded the staff that what we do every day matters.
