Upon rounds, I was visiting with a patient who had concerns from the previous day. When I went to her bedside, she appeared less stressed about her hospital stay and stated she had just had a visit from Nikeeta, our Heart Failure Nurse.

The patient described the visit as positive and life-changing and asked if I would share this story.

She went on to tell me how Nikeeta took extra time to give her much-needed information on CHF and took time to sit and connect with her on a personal level. The patient was so impressed by Nikeeta's approach and how she took time to really listen and connect. The patient felt heard and told me that the real-world examples Nikeeta gave her would help her to make the changes she needed to improve her health.

She also told me how Nikeeta went out of her way to show her resources and sat with her to listen to personal concerns. The patient shared she had been going through some hardships, and Nikeeta's presence and caring approach lifted her spirits.

I want to take a moment to share this story because of the impact it made and as an example of how small moments can impact our patients.
