I have never experienced a nurse who treated our family with such dignity, kindness, attentiveness, and understanding.
My father was hospitalized with a serious lung infection, and our family had to navigate not only his illness but also the challenges of supporting my mother, who has dementia. From the moment Gennet stepped into the room she demonstrated a level of awareness compassion and emotional intelligence that was extraordinary, she immediately understood my father as a person and not just a patient. She recognized what would comfort him, spoke to him with dignity, and treated him with kindness that made him feel safe. during a frightening time. What meant even more to us was how naturally she cared for my mother. Without needing much explanation, Gennet understood her confusion and vulnerability and treated her with remarkable patience and respect. She never made us feel like we were a burden or that our situation was complicated. Instead, she met our family exactly where we were. Gennet checked on us frequently without being called, anticipating needs before we even knew to ask. Every question we had was answered with patience, clarity, and expertise. She helped us understand what was happening.
One particular moment will stay with me forever. When we learned that my father's recovery had hit an unexpected obstacle, I felt overwhelmed. Gennet saw that immediately. She hugged me and gently reminded me that we were still moving in the right direction. That simple act of compassion grounded me at a time when I truly needed it. I have never experienced a nurse who treated our family with such dignity, kindness, attentiveness, and understanding. Gennet did not just provide excellent clinical care. She cared for us as people. She became part of our family. Healthcare needs more professionals like Gennet, and I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this recognition.
