Julie Cole provided care for my aunt. My aunt was transferred to the ICU after her condition deteriorated on the fourth floor. Her condition continued to deteriorate in the ICU despite the best efforts of the staff. When I arrived from out of town, Julie took the time to explain the situation and what the options were. She also brought in the nephrologist and the PA.

After our conversation, we went in, and they talked with my aunt again to confirm her wishes to remove the CPAP and that she desired palliative care only. When Julie came into the room with the meds to begin the palliative care, she explained the process to my aunt again. She was so compassionate to all of us, and she remained close in case we had any concerns. My biggest concern was ensuring that my aunt did not suffer. Julie ensured that did not happen, and my aunt passed away peacefully about 40 minutes after the CPAP came off.

In addition to caring for my aunt, Julie and the rest of the ICU staff ensured that my son and daughter-in-law, my aunt's pastor, and I were comfortable. She assured us that we could take all the time we needed to say our goodbyes. Julie made a difficult situation much easier for us, and I will always appreciate her!
