Coming into the emergency department, everything felt chaotic and uncertain. I was scared, in pain, and unsure of what was happening. Then Shamera identified herself as the nurse leader, took the time to speak with me calmly and respectfully. She explained what was happening, reassured me that I was being taken care of, and made sure I felt heard and understood.

What stood out the most was how she not only cared for patients but also supported the entire team around her. I saw her checking in with the other nurses, helping, and making sure everyone had what they needed. She did it in a way that I could tell her team enjoys working alongside her. She remained positive, funny, and compassionate, and made me feel safe and at ease while in their care.

She treated me not just like another patient in a busy ER but like a person who mattered. Her kindness, patience, and genuine concern helped ease my anxiety during a very difficult time. It was clear she leads by example and truly cares about both her patients and her staff. The ER can be a very scary and overwhelming place for patients, but because of this charge nurse, I felt safe, respected, and cared for.

Her compassion and dedication represent the very best of nursing. I can tell that her team feels the same way, which is rare now some days. For care like I received tonight, I will always choose Twin Cities and hope to see Shamera again. And her team!
