I could feel Casey’s compassion for me and all Veterans.
I came into the VA expecting I would be treated like I was when I served. From the moment I entered treatment for PTSD, depression, ADHD, and anxiety, I have been treated with the utmost respect and dignity.
There are so many people I could nominate, but Casey stands out to me for this award as a “Nurse”. Casey listened to me, cared for me, and made recommendations for a treatment plan to help me recover, or at least improve my standing in my environment. I could feel Casey’s compassion for me and all Veterans.
I am aware that there is my part, her part, and God’s part. Casey told me “my” part and suggested a chemical imbalance in my body contributing to my difficulty. Casey set me up in mental health treatment and prescribed a med that seemed to work nearly immediately! I told her (jokingly) that “I’m cured!” She laughed and said we have a long way to go.
I’ve been in treatment for several months now, and I meet with Casey every other month. I feel like I owe her my life for the help and care I’ve been given by everyone in the VA system. It starts with Casey’s care and dedication to helping Veterans. I can’t explain it other than to say that they are part of his trinity, God has called her, and she obeyed by answering the call of duty. A call that I am personally grateful for that didn’t go unanswered.
Thank you so much, Casey.
