Alexi has been my Nurse since I came in here for a partial small bowel obstruction and Crohn’s flair up. I was in the Medical Unit until I finally had to get surgery since I wasn’t getting better, I was getting worse. He went above and beyond in a way I had never experienced, and I have been in hospitals my whole life! He made sure I had everything I needed and more. He gave me maximum comfortability and care.
I knew Alexi had other patients as well, yet he provided for me 10 out of 10 care at all times. He always checked in on me, set up a pain management plan for me, sat in when the doctors came so he would always be in the loop in effort to know how to tend to my needs. He knew what I needed before I did. He took the time to chat with me about my love for animals and my hobbies. When the therapy dog came in, he made sure they came into my room. He also printed off a picture of a Kitty Kat to remind me I needed to be NPO.
During my stay, I experienced much pain and nausea. He gave me aromatherapy sticks, nausea wrist bands, and any other tips he could think of besides my medication that would help. As my pain increased, he made a pain management chart so I never would be uncomfortable. I felt like a top priority and my pain mattered. I could go on and on and on. It’s never fun going to the hospital and it’s hard being so dependent and having to ask for help but he was on the ball and I didn’t need to ask for much because he always knew what I needed. It’s also embarrassing going to the hospital for poop/belly issues and moments where I would feel insecure, he turned them into something to be proud of. His energy and positivity was contagious, it really helped me to stay in a good mind frame when I found out that I was going to have surgery.
Alexi is a rockstar Nurse and made me feel like a person, not just a patient or a number. This would have been a taxing stay if it wasn’t for Alexi. I am incredibly grateful and appreciative.
