I am honored to nominate Nydia Anna Wilson for the DAISY Nursing Award. I have had the privilege of working alongside Nydia at UMC Primary Care at the Medical District and the new UMC Center for Advanced Surgery. She consistently exemplifies the compassion, leadership, and clinical excellence that define outstanding nursing.
As a charge nurse, Nydia is a trusted leader and a steady presence for both patients and staff. She approaches every situation with professionalism, confidence, and a calm demeanor, ensuring that patient care remains the highest priority. Her strong clinical knowledge and critical-thinking skills enable her to navigate complex situations while maintaining a supportive, reassuring environment for those around her. Patients frequently express appreciation for the way she makes them feel heard, respected, and genuinely cared for.
Nydia also demonstrates exceptional initiative and commitment to team development. Recognizing the importance of proper training and support, she took the initiative to create and teach training programs for newly hired medical assistants at UMC, helping them build confidence and succeed in their roles.
