The 4SW team's collaboration with executive nursing leadership, security, RT, PT, and other ancillary departments allowed over 25 loved ones to come together, share memories, and raise a meaningful toast with horchata.
This Thanksgiving holiday, 4SW Solid Oncology came together to honor the life and lasting impact of one of their dear patients. A young man dying of metastatic cancer was admitted to 4SW for symptom management and end-of-life care. He wished for a final gathering with his family and friends, complete with food from his favorite restaurant.
4SW nurses generously came in on their day off during the holiday weekend to make this possible- setting up decorations, picking up food, and transporting the patient to the boardroom despite medical equipment needs. The 4SW team's collaboration with executive nursing leadership, security, RT, PT, and other ancillary departments allowed over 25 loved ones to come together, share memories, and raise a meaningful toast with horchata.
The patient passed away the next day, but the family was eternally grateful for such a special last memory they all got to share together to honor the life of their most dear loved one.
