Danielle intentionally creates an environment where people feel safe, supported, and empowered to contribute. She fosters trust by actively listening to diverse perspectives, encouraging open dialogue, and ensuring individuals feel heard and respected, even when opinions differ. This approach has built a culture of mutual respect where team members are comfortable speaking up, asking questions, and engaging in meaningful discussion.
She models compassion through her actions, consistently prioritizing the well-being of her team. During periods of team leave or increased workload, Danielle has stepped in to absorb additional responsibilities, ensuring continuity of work while allowing her team the space to care for themselves. Her leadership reinforces that people are valued not just for what they produce, but as individuals.
Danielle demonstrates a strong and sustained commitment to professional development. She has mentored numerous nurses through the UEXCEL and UEXCEL Next Gen programs, providing guidance, encouragement, and structure for growth. Many of her mentees have gone on to assume leadership roles across the UCHealth system, reflecting the depth and reach of her investment in others. She also encourages engagement in governance and advocacy, helping nurses expand their influence beyond their immediate roles.
At the same time, she upholds clear expectations and accountability. Danielle approaches difficult conversations with honesty and professionalism, modeling ethical behavior and integrity in her decision-making. This balance of support and accountability has created a psychologically safe, high-performing environment where trust, development, and ethical practice are consistently reinforced.
Danielle motivates staff by consistently connecting daily work to a larger purpose, demonstrating how tasks improve outcomes for both patients and the nursing profession. She brings clarity to complex initiatives and helps teams understand not just what they are doing, but why it matters, creating shared ownership and engagement.
Her leadership in the UEXCEL modernization initiative is a clear example. By redefining professional development standards, advancement pathways, and performance-based incentives for more than 7,000 nurses, she created a system where growth is visible, achievable, and aligned with both individual goals and patient care outcomes. This work has empowered nurses to take an active role in their development while strengthening the overall quality of care.
Danielle also energizes staff through professional governance. She has strengthened Department-Based Councils by developing infrastructure, leading DBC Chair sessions, and supporting initiatives such as the Nurse Coach pilot and DNP student projects. These efforts give nurses a voice in decision-making and reinforce that their expertise directly shapes care delivery.
Her impact is especially evident through mentorship. Danielle actively supports nurses in pursuing leadership roles, engaging in advocacy, and advancing within the profession. Many of those she has mentored through UEXCEL and the credentialing program have gone on to assume leadership roles across the system and the state, further amplifying a shared vision of excellence in nursing practice.
Through clear vision, meaningful opportunities, and genuine investment in others, Danielle creates enthusiasm that translates into engagement, professional growth, and improved outcomes for both staff and patients.
Danielle has been a visible and influential advocate for nursing, elevating the profession within UCHealth, across the community, and at the state level. One clear example is her leadership in coordinating and advancing nurse engagement in legislative advocacy.
Through her role with the Colorado Organization of Nurse Leaders, Danielle has helped prepare and support nurses to actively participate in healthcare policy discussions. She has engaged nurses to participate in activities such as Nurses Day at the Capitol, guided nurses in understanding key legislation, and mentored individuals to confidently share their perspectives through testimony and direct engagement with policymakers.
Within the organization, this work has strengthened the voice of nursing by creating pathways for staff to engage beyond the bedside, reinforcing that nurses are not only caregivers, but also leaders, advocates, and experts in healthcare delivery. In the community and at the state level, her efforts have contributed to broader recognition of the critical role nurses play in shaping healthcare systems and policy.
In addition, Danielle contributes to the national image of nursing through abstract submissions and presentations focused on advocacy and workforce solutions, further positioning nursing as a driving force in healthcare innovation and improvement.
Through sustained advocacy, mentorship, and leadership, Danielle actively enhances the visibility, credibility, and influence of the nursing profession at every level.
Danielle consistently role models extraordinary leadership by stepping into critical work when it matters most while simultaneously investing in the growth of others and the advancement of the nursing profession. During the most recent ANCC Magnet redesignation, she played a pivotal role in final document review and site visit preparation, stepping in during periods of team absence to ensure continuity and excellence across 72 departments and hundreds of nurses and staff. Her impact extends well beyond operational leadership.
Danielle is deeply committed to mentorship, actively developing nurses and leaders across the system by creating opportunities for professional growth, encouraging participation in governance and advocacy, and supporting individuals in stepping into leadership roles. Through this work, she improves lives not only for patients, but for the nurses who care for them.
Danielle also promotes UCHealth’s vision of “from health care to health” through her advocacy at the state and professional level. In her leadership role with the Colorado Organization of Nurse Leaders, she advances nursing influence in healthcare policy and workforce initiatives, helping shape systems that better support both patients and the healthcare workforce.
She consistently demonstrates UCHealth’s values in action. She prioritizes patients first by advancing system-level work that improves care delivery and outcomes. She leads with integrity, following through on commitments and modeling ethical, accountable leadership. She drives excellence through high standards, meaningful mentorship, and sustained contributions to nursing practice at the organizational, state, and national levels.
Through her leadership, Danielle does not simply contribute to the mission. She actively brings it to life in both visible and lasting ways.
