I would like to recognize Kayla for the exceptional care, compassion, and advocacy she consistently demonstrates as a nurse.

Kayla is an outstanding nurse who embodies what it truly means to care for patients. She actively listens, shows genuine empathy, respects each patient’s dignity, and carries herself with honesty and integrity. She always strives to do what is best for her patients, no matter the circumstances.

Recently, I witnessed Kayla go above and beyond for a patient whose condition was visibly deteriorating. Despite a lack of urgency from the provider, Kayla did not hesitate to advocate for her patient. She continuously reassessed the situation, pushed for appropriate interventions, and ensured that the patient’s needs were not overlooked.

In addition to her clinical diligence, Kayla provided emotional support to both the patient and his wife. She took the time to console them, communicate clearly, and build trust during a difficult and uncertain time. She also collaborated effectively with the healthcare team, involving others when needed, to ensure the patient received the best possible care.

Because of Kayla’s compassionate presence and tactful yet persistent advocacy,  this patient felt safe placing his trust—and ultimately his life—in her hands. 

Kayla’s actions exemplify the core values of nursing and the spirit of the  DAISY Award.  She is truly deserving of this recognition.
