Lisa made us feel that we weren’t just patients, but cared for us more like a mother figure.
My wife and I welcomed our first child into the world on January 31st. It was a very important time for my wife and me, and nothing went according to plan. Our son C was born early and had to be placed in the NICU. This made our hearts sink. When we arrived at the NICU, we were impressed by everyone's professionalism, compassion, and expertise. There was one nurse who stood out amongst us, though.
Lisa made us feel that we weren’t just patients, but cared for us more like a mother figure. For the forty-seven days that we lived in the NICU with our son, Lisa made it so much more bearable. We aren’t just amazed by how we bonded with Lisa, but we are absolutely touched by how she bonded with our son. It was clear that she had formed a genuine connection with C. When Lisa came around, and our son heard her voice, his little facial expressions and smiles lit up the room. This brought comfort and ease of mind to my wife and me.
If guardian angels do exist, my wife and I believe Lisa is one of them. When we weren’t at the hospital, Lisa would even leave cute little notes on the Angel Care camera for us. Sometimes it's just those little extra things that mean the absolute most. Everyone is happy to see C finally going home, but the tears in Lisa’s eyes made it clear that she was going to miss him. Lisa, thank you so much for being the amazing person that you are. If everyone were like you, the world would be a much better place.
This is Lisa's second DAISY Award!
