Even after a year has passed, it can often be seen that Kelly and the patient seek each other out during visits to catch up, and the story of this life-saving moment continues to be sung by the patient far and wide.
Kelly Tinsley is exceptionally delightful and kindhearted, extremely dedicated to providing the best care for their patients, and exudes such wisdom, compassion, and willingness to help her fellow team members.

A year ago, Kelly had an exciting start with our team and continues to tackle these moments of adversity like no other, with grace and a willingness to go far beyond the call of duty. Nothing showcases Kelly's talents like the following two situations:

On day three of her orientation as a new Inova team member, Kelly showed such grace under pressure during an emergency. While her preceptor momentarily stepped out of the room, she stayed with the patient. In that short period, the patient quickly decompensated, became unresponsive and pale, with no detectable pulse. Kelly quickly activated our emergency response, notified the staff for assistance, and swiftly lowered the patient to the floor to start CPR. Although Kelly didn’t fully know our processes or team, they seamlessly guided the resuscitation efforts, never leaving the patient’s side until EMS arrived. Her quick action led to the patient being resuscitated and able to live a healthy life thereafter without any complications. Even after a year has passed, it can often be seen that Kelly and the patient seek each other out during visits to catch up, and the story of this life-saving moment continues to be sung by the patient far and wide.

Although we do not see emergencies in our office often, it so happens that Kelly's tenacity, grace under pressure, and ability to be a good luck charm were showcased yet again! Acting as the charge nurse on an otherwise typical but busy day, Kelly took a rare moment for herself to visit the restroom. No sooner had she touched the doorknob of the bathroom door than the frantic call for help from our oncology physician in our office clinic was heard. Without a second thought, Kelly rushed to aid our physician, who was face-to-face with a patient with low blood pressure, who suddenly slumped their head forward and became unresponsive. As a seasoned pro at emergencies in our clinic, Kelly jumped right into action and again activated our emergency response, grabbed the attention of our other team members for help, and lowered the patient safely to the floor to start CPR. Not feeling a pulse can be frightening, but Kelly jumped into action, performing CPR for the entire emergency, never wavering or leaving the patient’s side until EMS arrived. Again, her heroic measures saved this patient, as they regained consciousness under Kelly's care before being taken to a nearby hospital. Forever dedicated, Kelly followed up for days after the case to ensure the patient was still thriving.

Not many team members outside of critical care areas would feel comfortable in an emergency, and yet Kelly showed essential skills and a sense of duty to act, pushing beyond those fears, twice, and with a full bladder! Kelly never wavered in these moments and continued to graciously and earnestly thank each member involved while deflecting her thanks and underplaying her indispensable actions.
