Kyra Carrasco, RN, of the Ortho/Neuro Unit at Midland Memorial Hospital has been honored with The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses, a recognition that celebrates the exceptional compassion and clinical excellence nurses bring to their patients every day.
What makes this moment especially meaningful is that Kyra has only been practicing as a registered nurse since November. In a short time, she has already made a powerful and lasting impression on the patients and families she serves.
Kyra was nominated by a patient who experienced firsthand the empathy, professionalism, and clinical skill she brings to every interaction. The nomination described how Kyra provided reassurance during anxious moments following surgery, anticipated needs before they were spoken, and created a calm and encouraging presence throughout recovery. Her nominator shared that Kyra made them feel seen, heard, safe, and genuinely cared for, supporting both the patient and their family during a vulnerable time.
