I would like to recognize our night-shift Emergency Department team for their extraordinary work in caring for a critically injured trauma patient.  The patient was dropped off near the ambulance bay in critical condition, and our nurses immediately sprang into action.  For three and a half intense hours, they worked tirelessly to stabilize him despite massive blood loss and multiple cardiac arrests.

As a small team, facing a case of this magnitude with limited nighttime resources can be overwhelming.  Yet, this group rose to the occasion without hesitation, demonstrating exceptional skill, composure, and dedication.  They went above and beyond to save this patient's life.

After the patient was stabilized and transported to another hospital, the paramedics returned to our ED specifically to share their gratitude.  They asked that we pass along this message to the night shift team:  "They saved that patient's life.  He will not only live, but he will also keep his leg.  You have an incredible team that deserves recognition."

I continue to be inspired by the resilience, professionalism, and perseverance of our nursing team, especially on nights, when resources are more limited but their commitment to excellence never wavers.
