I would like to recognize Karri for the extraordinary compassion, honesty, and professionalism she showed while caring for my uncle during a critical and life-threatening emergency. 

My uncle suffered a massive GI bleed and had a massive blood transfusion. Karri spoke to me with clarity and courage. She told me honestly and compassionately that the procedure failed, that he was bleeding profusely, and that I needed to get my family to the bedside immediately. She didn’t sugarcoat anything or delay the truth.

She delivered difficult information with professionalism and kindness, and made sure our family had the chance to be present with him at the moment when time truly mattered. Because of her, our family was able to gather, support one another, and be present during one of the hardest moments of our lives. 

Throughout the crisis, she remained steady, empathetic, and deeply human. In the midst of a chaotic medical emergency, she was our anchor. Nurses like Karri are the reasons families feel supported during critical care. She demonstrated the heart, integrity, and compassion that define nursing at its highest level. Our family will never forget what she did for us.

She didn’t just care for my uncle; she cared for all of us.
