I brought my son in because he had been sick for five days and began to get pale and dizzy. I have worked with Abbey for years. When I saw her come through that door, I was relieved and knew he would be in great hands.

What I thought was going to be IV fluids and sent home became an extremely low hemoglobin of 3 and LifeFlight being launched.

Just as in the past with stressful situations, I watched Abbey spring into action. She immediately got another IV in him, and began fluids and blood, when his HGB came back so low.

She didn't hesitate to check on me either. She got LifeFlight launched immediately and worked fast to get him to OSF CHOI. He ended up staying one night in PICU and one night on the general pediatric floor.

I was just so thankful for Abbey and the rest of the staff here at Saint Luke.

It's not often that we take care of ourselves, but it just reminded me of how blessed we are to have such good people working for OSF Saint Luke.
