His compassion, patience, and intuition turned a very difficult situation into one where my daughter finally felt supported.
I would like to recognize Scott for the incredible care he provided to my daughter. When she was transferred to the Flagstaff hospital, she was not in good condition. She was in pain, especially from her IV, and had lost trust in nurses due to her experience at the previous hospital.
She was anxious, resistant, and struggling to feel safe. From the moment Scott walked into the room, everything shifted. He instinctively knew how to approach her in a way that eased her fear and redirected her anxiety. He met her where she was emotionally and physically, and that made all the difference. Scott was the only nurse she felt comfortable with. She trusted him and was willing to cooperate with him in ways she hadn’t with anyone else.
He connected with her through simple but meaningful actions: singing, playing Simon Says, and finding creative ways to help her take her medication. His compassion, patience, and intuition turned a very difficult situation into one where my daughter finally felt supported. After his shift ended, she told me he was the only nurse she liked. That speaks volumes.
Scott left a lasting impression on both of us. During one of the most stressful times in our lives, his presence brought comfort, trust, and relief. I am deeply grateful that my daughter had Scott there to care for her. He truly embodies what it means to be a nurse, and he is more than deserving of this recognition.
