Rachel is an amazing person inside and out. I can tell she cares above all, and that’s what makes her an amazing nurse.
Rachel went out of her way to help comfort me as I suffer from anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
This was my first time doing an EGD. As we got to the room for them to start, she talked to me about my kids which helped sidetrack me a little until the CRNA came in and then it hit me and my anxiety got the best of me as she asked me to turn to my left side.
I began to cry; Rachel held my hand, told me that she would be there the whole time while wiping my tears away and rubbing my back to comfort me.
As a nursing student, along with being a CNA and working in the medical field myself in an ICU, I have always been the one to comfort the patients and their families. To be on the other side and have such a caring nurse who did what she knew to help calm me down, which is not easy, especially when I wasn’t able to take my medicine for the day.
It isn’t that easy to get me calmed down. She did a great job. I was beyond a hot mess; not one time did she appear to be upset or overwhelmed. She jumped right in and knew exactly what she was supposed to do.
Even afterward, she came to check on me as I was leaving and gave me a cookie she made. I can say she’s not only a passionate nurse, but she is also a great baker as well.
Rachel is an amazing person inside and out. I can tell she cares above all, and that’s what makes her an amazing nurse.
So, thank you, Rachel, for making me feel heard and not like a burden. Thank you for being such a caring person. Thank you for being you!
