I would like to recognize Joel for the exceptional compassion, professionalism, and de-escalation skills he demonstrated during my recent hospitalization.

One night, Joel had to admit a very difficult and belligerent patient to the bed next to mine. I was already struggling with a massive headache, and the escalating situation made me visibly frustrated, angry, and overwhelmed.

The environment could have easily spiraled into something unsafe and distressing for everyone involved. But Joel stepped in with remarkable calm and confidence. He acknowledged my frustration without judgment, reassured me, and managed to de-escalate the other patient’s behavior with patience and empathy.

His presence alone shifted the entire atmosphere. What could have turned into a truly bad event instead became a moment where I felt protected, heard, and cared for.

Joel demonstrated not only clinical skill but also emotional intelligence and genuine compassion. His ability to maintain safety, dignity, and calm for both patients was extraordinary.

I am deeply grateful for the way he handled the situation and for the comfort he provided during a very difficult night.
