She makes every patient feel like family and goes above and beyond for everyone.
Kate is amazing and the true definition of a DAISY recipient.
There was a situation with a patient who needed a higher level of care, and the patient took a turn for the worse while the primary nurse was at lunch.
Katie quickly took action, assessed the patient, called the doctor and MET team to assess the patient. The doctor had difficulty getting the computer orders changed for the higher level of accommodation.
Katie quickly called the bed board, got the patient an ICU bed, helped the doctor fix the orders, and Katie took the patient to the ICU. The same morning, there was a scheduling issue with staffing. She quickly figured out the situation and fixed it.
Any time I work with her and anyone has a problem, she helps fix it, and if she doesn’t know, she finds out. If someone else’s patient needs something and she’s available, she helps. She steps up every day I work with her.
Every time I work with Katie, you know she’s there—always happy and always organized. She makes every patient feel like family and goes above and beyond for everyone. She always greets everyone with a smile.
The days she is in charge are the best workdays I have. She helps everyone so much and takes the weight of the day off. She carries her work with integrity and inspiration. If someone is having a hard day, she will always help put their “fire” out.
If everyone were like her, the unit would be perfect. I believe she embodies everything a DAISY is.
