I am honored to recognize Maria Amparo for the exceptional care, kindness, and empathy she provided to my Aunt S during one of the most difficult times in her life.

My aunt suffered an accident that left her unable to walk. It was a devastating experience for her, and as someone who shared a deep bond with her, I saw firsthand how much she struggled - physically and emotionally. During her time in the hospital, Nurse Amparo became more than just her nurse; she became a source of comfort, strength, and unwavering support.

Nurse Amparo treated my aunt as if she were her own family. She was incredibly patient, always taking the time to listen to her concerns, ease her fears, and provide the compassionate care she needed. She didn't just care for her medical needs -she cared for her heart and spirit. The connection they shared was truly special.

One moment that stands out and will forever remain in our hearts happened when my aunt was being discharged to a rehab facility. As she said goodbye to Nurse Amparo, she broke down in tears, not wanting to leave her side. It was a powerful reminder of the deep impact Nurse Amparo had on her life. Even in the face of immense challenges, my aunt felt safe, valued, and truly cared for under Nurse Amparo's watch. Sadly, my aunt passed away, but the memory of the love and kindness she received from Nurse Amparo will always stay with us.

Nurse Amparo embodies everything a DAISY Award Nurse should be: ­ compassionate, dedicated, and selfless. Her care made all the difference in my aunt's final weeks, and my family and I will forever be grateful.
