What makes our team great?
When you step back and look at everything we deal with day in and day out—the short-staffing, the metrics, the audits, the compliance—it would be easy to think that greatness is measured by numbers. But it’s not.

It’s not about the goals we hit or don’t hit. It’s not about awards, recognition, or pats on the back. What makes us great is our people.

It’s the resilience we show when the workload is heavy, and things feel stacked against us. It’s how we show up for each other every single day—adjusting, helping, and pushing through together. It’s working a fourth, fifth, or even sixth shift, or coming in at 3 a.m. It’s having each other’s backs.

We’re more than coworkers. We’re a family. And that shared strength, heart, and commitment is what truly makes this team great.

Working on 7S is not for the faint of heart. We turn over the entire unit Monday through Friday, never fully knowing if we’ll have beds ready or enough teammates to care for these patients. And then there’s 7N with its Potpourri” of patients. From the sweetest mawmaws to the “We need security”, two very different units, but with one powerful thing in common—the people. People who care with their whole hearts and show up, every time, for their patients and their teammates.

But we don’t scare easily. Whatever challenge shows up that day, we face it head-on—because we know, no matter what, we’ll figure it out and overcome it together.

We lost a big piece of our heart this year—our sister in service, Kim Phillips. There truly are no words to capture the depth of the pain we felt—knowing we would never again see her beautiful smile or hear her familiar, loving “hey girl.” That loss left a silence in our hearts that will always be felt. There is no greater example of what family truly means than how we came together: loving one another, supporting one another, and grieving together.

That’s what we do as a family—through the hardest moments, like losing a sister, and through the lighter, joyful ones, like welcoming a new baby into the world. WE DO FOR FAMILY

I would like to nominate the 7NS team for the DAISY Team Award—not for perfect outcomes or easy wins, but for everything they push through. For the challenges they face day in and day out, the moments that drain you, test you, and sometimes feel overwhelming.

And yet, they keep going. They still find the strength to get up each day, walk back through those doors, and give their patients and each other everything they have. Even when it’s hard. Especially when it’s hard. That resilience, commitment, and heart are why this team deserves recognition.
