My nurse was critical in helping me overcome my phobia of needles/bloodwork. During early pregnancy, I fainted at the bloodwork while in the lobby, and she immediately ran out to care for me. Waking up to her calm smile and warmth truly made me feel OK. Once I had to come back for my OBGYN 26-week Glucose Test, I knew I had to prepare. I called ahead, and she said she would put me in a private exam room with my favorite music playing. She talked me through every step of the bloodwork and assured me that it would be okay. She offered me cold compresses and told me stories. For the first time, I had blood drawn and didn't pass out because she made me feel so safe. She also reached out in the portal to me personally to message me with my test results. She truly helped me conquer my fear!
