After being admitted to the CP10 unit following a two-night stay at another hospital, I felt extremely vulnerable, on edge, anxious, and guarded. Sabrina showed extraordinary compassion that made a lasting impact on me as both a patient and a person. From the moment Sabrina came into my room, she treated me with such genuine kindness, warmth, and respect that my anxiety began to ease almost immediately.  Sabrina kindly took the time to listen when I needed to vent, laughed with me when I needed a moment of normalcy, and created a safe space where I felt heard and understood. This meant the world to me. I am a patient with a very complex medical history. Even behind her face mask, I could see her eyes smiling, which immediately put me more at ease.

What stood out throughout my care was when Sabrina demonstrated remarkable integrity and created a truly inclusive environment. She ensured that my voice and my concerns were taken seriously. She advocated for my care in meaningful ways and made sure my experience and perspective were respected during my vulnerable moments.

Her commitment to excellence was evident in the way she consistently checked on me, paid close attention to my needs, and approached every interaction with thoughtfulness and professionalism.

Sabrina also exemplified true collaboration. She took extra time to listen to stories I shared about my life and past medical experiences—both good and bad—and never once made me feel rushed or dismissed. She encouraged me and made it clear she was rooting for my success at healing, working alongside me to help me feel safe and supported. This was especially true when she would bring up concerns or requests to my doctors.

One moment that meant so much to me was when Sabrina folded origami for me to display on my bedside table. It was such a simple gesture, but it represented the kindness and humanity she brings into her work. In a hospital environment that can sometimes feel overwhelming and clinical, that small act reminded me that compassion still lives at the heart of nursing (I am an RN as well).

Above all, Sabrina truly embodied what it means to put patients first. She did not just treat a medical condition and give medication; she cared for the person living with that condition. Because of her kindness and advocacy, I felt supported, respected, and seen during a time when that meant everything.

Because of Sabrina, I was reminded that the heart of nursing is not just treating an illness, but caring for the person living through it. She truly embodies the spirit of both "Team Medicine" and "Hello Humankindness."

I have over 200 hospital days under my belt. I can gladly say that Sabrina is the most caring, compassionate nurse I have ever had. Central Pavilion Level 10 staff are all truly amazing! I will always hope for a bed on Level 10 whenever I have to stay in the hospital.

There will never be enough gratitude to explain how thankful I am. I truly feel that Sabrina deserves this Award.
