Her presence brought comfort when we needed it most.
I would like to nominate a truly exceptional nurse who cared for my stepfather during one of the most difficult times in our lives-his transition into hospice care. From the moment she stepped into his care, she showed a level of compassion, kindness, and emotional strength that went far beyond her role. This was her first time caring for a hospice patient, yet you would never have known it. She carried herself with grace, patience, and a genuine heart for both my stepfather and our entire family. She didn't just care for him medically-she cared for him as a person. She made sure he was comfortable, treated him with dignity, and fostered an environment of peace during such a heavy, emotional time.
She also supported us, his family, in ways that we will never forget. Her presence brought comfort when we needed it most. In moments where fear, sadness, and uncertainty filled the room, she remained a steady light. She listened, she reassured, and she showed up with empathy every single time. It takes a special kind of person to step into hospice care for the first time and do it with such excellence and heart. What she gave to our family cannot be taught-it comes from who she is. Because of her, my stepfather's final days were met with dignity, love, and compassion. And because of her, our family felt supported, seen, and cared for during a time we will never forget. She is more than deserving of this recognition.
