My husband has been hospitalized for 19 days thus far. He was admitted to DH, transferred to Cobb Hosp, and back again to DH. So much to deal with in the midst of pain, UTI infection, and wound care from shingles. As a stroke survivor and at 88 years old, all the tremendous emotional, physical, and mental stressors combined for a difficult season.

It was a true blessing to have someone who understands and looks for ways to go above and beyond. That is what Elizabeth did.

Eating and swallowing were concerns for him. The techniques Elizabeth used proved unique and exemplified a thoughtful approach to ensuring the liquid meds were properly taken. Using a syringe to extract the liquid and placing it in the patient’s mouth to release it helped him receive the full amount of liquid without spills. In my opinion, it’s a great technique that shows her concern, compassion, and care, and that she's thinking of a way to help the patient. Her tone was always caring and pleasant, friendly, and genuine.

Finding a way outside the box showed above-and-beyond concern and a desire to help the patient. We are forever grateful for Elizabeth and feel others should be aware of her desire to help her patients by going above and beyond, thinking outside the box, and putting patient care first.
