When I arrived and was then admitted, my first contact in my room was nurse Julia. I was met with an electric smile, a kind, warm tone, and what seemed like real, sincere compassion for my situation and my anxiety about not knowing what to expect upon admission. I immediately felt welcome and worry-free for my stay. If there are any words to describe Julia as the week went on, it has to be consistency, kindness, lighthearted conversation, laughs, and always a huge smile. She was very attentive to my needs as a patient but didn't speak to me like a sick person. She always made sure I had ice and food after my tests! YAY! She also made sure that I was always comfortable and relaxed, no matter how stressed I really was behind my own joking and half-smiles. While I'm sure everyone says the same things about their nurses (at least I hope they do) I haven't had great experiences with medical personal in the past but Julia, among many others which I will also submit comments about were all a very cohesive team that sincerely cares about people and their profession. Bravo! Nurses are so important to healthcare. I support what she and all of you do each day. I got to know Julia a little throughout the week, and what it was was her smile, which lights up the room. She always seems happy and relaxed, ready for anything. She was always on time, kept me informed about my tests or meds, and popped her head in just to say hi when she got there or was passing my room. I could tell she loves being a nurse! She owns all of it in every way! So I guess because of her and everything I've said contained here it made my experience,, though not medically ideal to be admitted, a great experience all around! Advent should feel lucky and proud to have her on the Advent nursing team, as people like her are real angels! You all are angels to me and always will be! I will never forget you all! To Julia, if she gets to see this, from the bottom of my soul, thank you, and I love you for everything you did for me, even though it's probably a routine to you each day; to me, it was everything to make me feel cared for and calm...Please keep that smile, and I wish you the best life a person can have! I was lucky to have you as my nurse! You made a huge impression on me that I will pass forward to others.
