Through the cancer journey, so scary, Colleen was by my side. She made it a bit easier.
My journey started with getting diagnosed with breast cancer. Wow, how scary. So much ahead of me to achieve the cure. After endless doctor visits, scans, pokes, and finally the most awful mastectomy, tests of lymph nodes were positive, so off I went to OHC. Twenty-eight radiation treatments were in my future. What in the world did I know what it meant? Radiation was scary. First time walking into OHC, I was met by Colleen. She smiled at me, her voice so calm and reassuring. Colleen knew the unknown I was having. She took me back, showed me where to change into my new top and gown, and let me know they would be there to pick me up. She said You can sit here in this chair while you wait. I was pacing back and forth, as I was too antsy to sit. She smiled, touched my arm, and said I understand. So it was day after day I went and saw her; we made small talk about our plans for the day and what we would cook. Anytime I had a question or concern, she didn’t shrug it off. She looked into it and fixed it. Through the cancer journey, so scary, Colleen was by my side. She made it a bit easier.
