Jared's willingness to go above and beyond during a time of fear and uncertainty is a true testament to his character, work ethic, and dedication to Hawkins County Memorial Hospital.
Rogersville is a small rural community where friendships last a lifetime, and everyone knows everyone. During one of the most frightening moments for my family, that sense of community meant everything.
My mother is currently battling two different cancers, leaving her immune system extremely compromised. While she and my father were home fighting a viral illness, my dad suddenly began experiencing alarming symptoms—uncontrolled shaking with a fever, low blood pressure, and low oxygen levels.
He hesitated for hours about going to the Emergency Department because he was deeply concerned about exposing my mother to additional illness in the waiting area.
That is when nurse Jared Greene stepped in.
Jared and I have been close friends since high school, and even though we graduated over a decade ago, I reached out to him to see if he was working in the ER that evening. He confirmed that he was and immediately showed concern, already aware of my mother's cancer diagnosis.
Jared personally watched the ER cameras and waited for my parents to arrive so they could be taken directly to a room, avoiding the waiting area entirely. While there was an open room available, the fact that he took the extra step to personally watch and ensure my parents were cared for safely and promptly meant more to me than words can express.
Beyond this thoughtful gesture, he provided exceptional, thorough, and compassionate care throughout my father's visit.
