After weeks spent at the UKB, following surgeries and many moments of fear and uncertainty, I finally found myself on the Paul-Ehrlich Ward. I was exhausted, both physically and emotionally—weak, tired, and desperate, and some days were darker than others.

But in the midst of it all, there was one special person, Ms. Bohuslava Fritz, who was there for me and my wife in her own unique, loving way. She not only provided outstanding care for our medical needs but also saw us as people. With her nutritional advice, information on care, small gestures, and kind words, she managed to bring light, confidence, and courage during the most difficult hours. She has the ability to share her knowledge and experience, thereby giving us courage and hope and helping us become more empowered and confident in dealing with the illness.

I am deeply grateful for her care and her genuine compassion, which went far beyond the call of duty. I also noticed how collegial and friendly she was with her colleagues, always willing to help and able to articulate issues in German (which, unfortunately, is one of the challenges in nursing). She also earned my deep respect for her actions in the ward’s waiting room when a patient collapsed and had to be resuscitated. My deepest gratitude!
