I would like to nominate Nurse Courtney for a DAISY Award for the incredible compassion, kindness, and care she showed not only to J, but to our entire family during J’s final days. During one of the hardest moments of our lives, Courtney went far beyond her duties as a nurse. She made sure every question we had was answered with patience and understanding. When the doctors explained difficult medical information, Courtney took the time to break everything down in a way we could truly understand, helping us feel less overwhelmed and more supported through every step.

What stood out most was the genuine love and compassion she showed our family. She cared deeply not just for J, but for her children as well. She brought the kids ice cream and juice to comfort them during such a painful time, showing kindness they will never forget. She even offered to pay for my breakfast and lunch out of her own kindness, something she absolutely did not have to do, but it showed the size of her heart.

Courtney provided comfort, dignity, and peace to J in her final moments while also holding up an entire grieving family with compassion and grace. The emotional support she gave us will stay with us forever. Nurses like Courtney are rare, and she is truly deserving of recognition for the extraordinary care she gives to her patients and their families. We will forever be grateful for the love and compassion she showed J and all of us during the most difficult time in our lives.
