I was two weeks postpartum and came to the ER for what ended up being a serious GI issue that required surgery. In the ER, I was in a tremendous amount of pain as well as very scared and upset about being away from my newborn. Kate was by far the best nurse I met during my time in the hospital. She was kind, calm, competent, and knew exactly how to help when I needed it. She knew when to step in to offer support and when to let me rest. She was prompt with medications and procedures to offer relief. She was quick with updates and compassionate when I was having a hard time. She embodied everything that a great nurse is. While this was a scary and terribly uncomfortable experience, Kate was a source of comfort and reassurance along the road, and I feel so grateful she was my nurse.
