DAISY and AARP are Growing Gratitude!
Learn about this exciting collaboration, and express your gratitude to a nurse by nominating them for The DAISY Award below.
We are thrilled to collaborate with AARP to increase public awareness of the value of Nurses and extend more gratitude to them via nominations for The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. The DAISY Foundation (an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune SYstem) was started in 1999 in memory of J. Patrick Barnes by members of his family. The care both he and they received inspired this recognition program to give patients, families, and co-workers around the world a way to say thank you to Nurses for what they became Nurses to do - provide compassionate care to patients and their families. This feedback from those who matter most to Nurses enhances Nurses’ compassion satisfaction and is associated with lower rates of turnover. To date, over 2.5 million nominations have been written. Read more about our story here.
Please take the time to thank your nurse and share your story of how they made an impact you will never forget and/or made a meaningful difference in your care or the care of a loved one. Your nomination will go directly to the healthcare organization. Each month or quarter, they review all submissions and select an Honoree. But don’t worry, all Nurses who are nominated will be recognized as well, even if not selected. Nominees will receive a nominee pin, a copy of your nomination, and a congratulations note from their manager or Chief Nursing Officer.
