THE DAISY FOUNDATION ™ AND CNAI (ITALIAN NURSES ASSOCIATION)

ANNOUNCE SUPPORTIVE ASSOCIATION COLLABORATION

July 7, 2020 (Glen Ellen, CA) – The DAISY Foundation™ and CNAI (Italian Nurses Association) announced their mutual support today.

The DAISY Foundation is thrilled to welcome CNAIto The DAISY Community of Supportive Associations and believes the alignment of their missions will promote and support nursing excellence throughout the country. CNAI’s support will help introduce DAISY to healthcare facilities in Italy and bring meaningful recognition to their nurses.  Said Bonnie Barnes, FAAN, Co-founder and CEO of The DAISY Foundation, “Over the last several months, we have watched from afar as nurses in Italy demonstrated profound courage and compassionate care for patients with COVID-19. We are thrilled to bring The DAISY Award to these dedicated clinicians. Based on history, we know DAISY will have a positive impact for Italy’s nurses as it has for nurses and their organizations in 28 other countries.”

Walter De Caro, President of CNAI, added “During its over 100 years of history, CNAI, has always strived to improve the well-being and bring a higher professional recognition of nurses in Italy. CNAI works every day to unlock nursing potential. This cooperation with the DAISY Foundation will bolster our efforts to acknowledge and spotlight the incredible contributions of nurses to our society. The DAISY Award is a meaningful international recognition that contributes to improve levels of nurses’ satisfaction and to make evident the great impact of nurses for health and social care.

About The DAISY Foundation

The DAISY Foundation is a not-for-profit organization, established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, by members of his family.  Patrick died at the age of 33 in late 1999 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), a little known but not uncommon auto-immune disease. (DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System.)  The care Patrick and his family received from Nurses while he was ill inspired the creation of The DAISY Award® for Extraordinary Nurses, an evidenced-based means of providing Nurse recognition and thanking Nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patient families.

In addition to the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses, the Foundation expresses gratitude to the nursing profession internationally in over 4,500 healthcare facilities and schools of nursing with recognition of direct care Nurses, Nurse-led Teams, Nurse Leaders, Nursing Faculty, Nursing Students, Lifetime Achievement in Nursing and through the J. Patrick Barnes Grants for Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice Projects and Medical Mission Grants. More information is available at http://DAISYfoundation.org.
