Congratulations to the staff 5 North and 5 South for being the recipients of this quarter's DAISY Unit Award. Both 5 North and 5 South were nominated by their manager, Tonya Bryant, who described the tremendous team efforts of her staff in their pilot implementation of the Triad Nursing Model. She goes on to write:

"My staff is AWESOME! They have stepped up to help improve processes by creating tools that prove to be effective when communicating. They have improved their team-building with one another by openly and constantly having a dialogue regarding how to make their patients' stay better; how to deliver compassionate patient care and how to better support one another. As a result of my teams' efforts to make 5 North/5 South a better place, patients are happier."

5 North and 5 South were also acknowledged on Fox 5's "The Rant", when a former patient called in and had this to say: "Last week I was hospitalized on the fifth floor at UMC. I just want to say I am so impressed with this new generation of nurses coming out. Not only are they all extremely professional and thorough, but they all have a great sense of humor."
