Aaron provided a high level of dignity to the patient and treated him as anyone else rather than someone under police escort.
I am a police officer for a local agency. One day in the early morning, I came into the Swedish Issaquah Emergency Room with an in-custody subject. Aaron was the charge nurse that night/morning. He greeted me at the ambulance bay door and quickly brought my subject in for care. Without going into detail about my subject’s medical issues, what I want to highlight is Aaron's high level of professionalism and compassion for the subject. He was experiencing some crisis-related issues beyond the reason for medical attention. Aaron was beyond kind and took the time to not only listen but offer appropriate support. I was blown away by his level of care, especially with how busy the ER seemed to be at the time.
Although my subject was under arrest, Aaron provided a high level of dignity to the patient and treated him as anyone else rather than someone under police escort. I want to personally commend Aaron and I highly recommend him for the DAISY Award. My job takes me into hospitals often, but Aaron was one of a kind. He led his team incredibly well and served in the best way I've seen. Thank you, Aaron. The world needs more nurses like you and more humans with your heart.
