This is for the Baxter Regional Acute Rehab Unit in remembrance of the care received by the patient. Granny S. was fortunate to be able to receive care in the rehab unit following her initial stroke in 2016, her broken hip in 2019 and her final debilitating stroke in 2019. S was able to live alone, continued to drive during the day and care for her church family and neighbors until she broke her hip at church at the age of 93. In the fall of 2018, she picked up over 400 pounds of pecans for her church missionary fund. She was able to enjoy her two newest great-grandbabies, and we enjoyed many meals and Sundays together in worship, yard work, and Thanksgiving. Thank you for giving us that opportunity. The Baxter Regional Rehab provided exceptional care, everlasting friendships and maintained the dignity of Granny S. She was a blessing to them in her positive approach to life, but each one of them added so much color and richness to the last few years of her life. We feel that with her initial stay, we received the gift of more time to enjoy her and learn from her true servant’s heart. We cannot name everyone who deserves an individual halo from these admissions, but here are the ones who made the biggest impact: Michael Brown was always just a phone call away each time we needed to make a discharge plan for her. Jean, Helen, and Dawn will forever be a special part of our family through their care and devotion. In addition, we cannot ever forget Darla, Vicky, Cynthia, Kamie & Gypsy. Then, you add the Dr. Elders into the mix for a perfect combination that cannot be beat. Thank you, and God Bless.

A few months ago, my physician referred me to a physician at UAMS for foot and ankle surgery. Someone from Home Health concluded, upon my return, that I needed a period of inpatient skilled care, which landed me in Inpatient Rehab. I cannot begin to name all the Heroes in Acute Rehab and I am indebted to each one of them. Michael Brown arranged for my husband and me to tour the facility prior to surgery and like a friend, Michael followed my progress, personally checking in with me to make sure I was doing well. Lori Stanton answered all our questions and she helped arrange for my home health. The therapists are simply amazing! They were serious, good-natured taskmasters who made me work while patiently assuring me I could do it, cheering me along the way. They truly work miracles.  As my discharge date approached, the therapy staff worked with my husband to prepare him to help me at home.  I was so impressed how Dr. Elders, Christine, and the staff monitored my progress, made sure my goals were met, and my husband and I were secure and confident I had the skills to continue to progress my recovery at home. The nursing staff is nothing short of extraordinary. They reinforced what I learned in rehab each day, cheered my accomplishments, and gave me comfort, support, and reassurance along the way. The nursing staff is so skilled, the CNAs so proficient and they work together so seamlessly. They were not only Heroes, but also Angels - there when needed most!
