Adrienne did an outstanding job of helping a very large family cope with a very difficult case of a 32 year old woman. The family watched their loved one progress from the cool down process to rewarming and she kept them informed over a 2 day period helped them deal realistically with the probable outcome and worked hard and effectively to balance patient needs with family needs as patient went through severe seizures activity. She was mentoring a new RN who was dealing with this kind of case for the first time, explaining her decisions, engaging her in the care and decision-making processes and modeling excellent care with great respect for patient and family. She used chaplain support well, kept them informed and when the family made the decision to remove life support, she gave them space to say good-bye, explained what they might observe and managed the process with grace and dignity.
