February 2017 Honoree
alexa bates, RN
Alexa was recognized by a family of a patient whom she cared for while in emergency. Alexa advocated to the physician that the patient be admitted even though her tests were normal because she was too weak to go home. Within the next 48 hours in the hospital, a diagnosis was found for stage 4 cancer. The family said, "Alexa because you intervened our mother was admitted and a diagnosis was found. We thank you for your compassion and knowledge as the whole process of diagnosis would have been delayed had you not intervened. This gave family from across the country the opportunity to come and visit. You have given us the gift of time. Thank you."
Thank you, Alexa, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
