Alexis was caring for a patient who was wanting to go AMA because she needed to get home to her disabled son; she was the caregiver and the house was lacking in meals for him. Alexis was able to get the patient to give her time to think of a plan.
Alexis took the initiative to call the ER care manager/social worker, as it was after hours, and arrange meals on wheels who would deliver meals to the son; ensuring the patient remained in the hospital and was able to get proper care for herself, so she could properly care for her son.
This is just one example of how Alexis thinks of the big picturein regards to her patients' care. She advocates not just for them, but realizes their families need an advocate too.
