Allie is the day shift charge nurse in the ED. She is truly an expert at being our chaos coordinator. She is like the air traffic controller at the airport- directing ambulance patients into rooms and hall beds while also triaging them when needed. At the same time, she's helping the triage nurse place the patients that have been in the waiting room. While she is doing this she also calls a report on patients that are ready to go up to a room if that nurse is busy. During this time she is also directing and helping any staff member that may need help including other nurses, doctors, PAs, ED techs, ED paramedics, outside EMS staff, or even our registration staff. She is doing all this while also doing all the things that are asked of her as a charge nurse which involves many many more tasks. She does all this while having a smile on her face, and always a positive attitude, and the most impressive part, she does it all while staying calm and even-keeled. If she is ever stressed, she does not allow it to show for the staff to see. She leads by example with professionalism, humility, consistency, and kindness every day and treats everyone equally. A true leader in our department and without her, our days would be much more difficult to manage. We are so thankful that Allie chooses to clock into our department and lead our staff on the floor.
