Allie is a standout in a team of a dozen or so exceptionally professional nurses. She combines boundless energy with a perpetual sense of urgency. She moves from patient to patient with no loss of motion, always exuding cheerful, confidence-building, precision, and efficiency so that each of us feels like the only person in the room. She contributes exceptionally to my care with her exemplary skill and compassion establishing a port in the veins of my arm to accept the infusion I receive periodically. My veins have particularly challenged several of the first-rate professionals on her team, requiring multiple insertions of the initial needle and follow-on probing each time a port must be established. I happily accept their efforts as a clear necessity for my treatment. Allie has a particular skill in selecting a vein and aligning my arm, and deftly moving the needle, once inserted, to the precise location where an appropriate feed can be established. She seems to have an uncanny sense of touch and accomplishes this critical procedure with one insertion and a minimum of post-insertion probing. Her skill and compassion are extraordinary, and I am grateful.
