Alli was so great with my patient as he passed away today. I was in while he was FaceTiming with his daughter as he decompensated. Alli offered to this devastated daughter to stay by his side since she couldn't be physically present. She also offered to continue to FaceTime on the phone. Alli stayed at the bedside with the phone open so his daughter would feel "present" during her dad's last moments. Alli walked her through the difficult moments, gently explaining what to expect. Right at his passing, I was at the bedside to witness Alli holding his hand.
This daughter was very grateful. As a practicing physician at VHC, I also wanted to thank Alli for being such a caring nurse. The circumstances for the family, me, everything, were so much better because of her compassionate care.
