She pays attention to the details of nursing, dietary, and housekeeping to ensure the safety and well-being of all of the patients. This also includes evenings, nights, and weekends. There isn’t anything that Allyson wouldn’t do to make sure patients are getting the best care.
I see Allyson come in every day displaying care and compassion for staff and patients. She has an open-door policy for fellow associates and encourages them to come to her with issues or problems. No issue is too big or too small for her to try and help resolve. Allyson practices active listening to staff and patients as she values all relationships. She has a vision of what she would like to see for the hospital and her staff. While taking care of our patients is her first and foremost concern for this hospital, she still tries to help the staff develop into top-notch, skilled professionals. She possesses the traits of a qualified & caring leader.

While working at the hospital, meeting with the Indiana Board of Health and the Joint Commission, and caring for her young son, she still manages to find time to take classes to work on her doctorate degree. Allyson is dedicated, hard-working, and possesses true leadership skills. I work alongside Allyson Hurst at the Rehabilitation Hospital and I watch her make a difference in patient care every day.

Allyson goes above and beyond to make sure that patients are receiving the best care from every department in the hospital. She is never in her office she is always on the floor helping with patient care, troubleshooting nursing logistical issues, or even helping ancillary departments to make sure our patients receive the best experience at the Rehabilitation Hospital. She pays attention to the details of nursing, dietary, and housekeeping to ensure the safety and well-being of all of the patients. This also includes evenings, nights, and weekends. There isn’t anything that Allyson wouldn’t do to make sure patients are getting the best care.

Allyson is truly an amazing leader to not only the nursing department but to all departments. She leads by example and doesn’t stray from doing what is right for the patient. She is an advocate for her team and works endlessly to do what is needed. The Rehab Hospital is a better place by having her on the leadership team. Genuine, honest, intelligent, hardworking, amazing sense of humor, and loyal are just a few of the phrases that describe Allyson.

If I could describe the type of leader I would love to work with, I would describe them as kind, caring, upbeat, ambitious, open to new ideas and suggestions, willing to jump in and do what is needed, and an advocate for those that they work with. All of these qualities describe Allyson. There is nothing that she wouldn’t do to support her staff. She works long and stressful hours without hesitation. She will jump in as needed to ensure the hospital functions at its best, whether that is helping nursing, case management, or dietary.

Allyson encourages everyone to recognize their strength and to be the best that they can be. In working with Allyson she is always more than happy to accommodate each and every patient at admission. This is greatly appreciated, from an admissions and patient throughput perspective. Allyson is an excellent team member and is always collaborative on all fronts. Allyson is an amazing nurse and leader. She will come in and work any hours of the day. 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift. She will do whatever is needed for her staff and patients. She will draw blood, take people to the restroom, cook meals, serve meals, help with discharges you name it and she is there. If she does not know something she wants to learn it. She is an outstanding leader.

PS..... she makes me laugh and is hilarious. We are blessed to have Allyson Hurst as the CNO at the Rehab Hospital.

There are so many reasons why Allyson is a DAISY Nurse Leader. She is an excellent example to the nursing staff and others of what it means to be a servant leader. Allyson is always willing to do whatever is required to make sure the nursing staff has what they need. She is willing to help on the front lines with nursing and also advocates at the corporate level for resources to make sure the nursing department and patients have what they need to be successful. When Allyson hears about an issue that needs to be addressed, she does not shy away from it but takes it head-on to get a resolution. She also has the ability to change the mood of the entire hospital with her infectious laughter. What may stand out the most about Allyson is the way she cares for the patients, her staff, and all other staff members in the hospital. Allyson wants the Rehab Hospital to be the best facility it can be, which drives her in everything that she does. She wants patients to get the best possible care and for them to know they are cared for as individuals. Thank you, Allyson, for the dedication you put into everything you do!
