I have never seen a person working with such a passion like Alma.
My brother was in ICU(Neurology) for a week; while he was there, Alma was taking care of him. I also work in the medical field for more than 10 years and I have never seen a person working with such a passion like Alma. A nurse with patience is a real nurse. Alma was the only one who was able to make my brother talk and open his eyes. After God she was an important key for my brother to get better.

Nurses play the most vital role in providing health services to our patients, families, and community during their most vulnerable time. Each and every day, nurses make sacrifices for their patients as they serve on the front lines of care. The character of a nurse is as important as the knowledge she possesses. On a daily basis as an ICU nurse, Ms. Alma Martinez-Salgado exemplifies compassion, understanding, dedication, and patience with our patients, to name just a few qualities. She shares her empathy, integrity, kindness, and patience to every single patient in our Neuroscience ICU even when she is not the primary nurse, and her spirit of generosity does not go unnoticed by her patients, families, and co-workers. She continuously reminds us to never lose sight of the reason we chose to become nurses.
No matter how challenging the day may seem, she maintains a positive and energetic outlook for the day. Her bright smile and warm personality spreads to all of her coworkers and patients as she can make anyone smile on any given moment and this is one of the reasons why she is being recognized. As proof of her dedication, she continued to work with a broken foot for over two weeks until she was encouraged to seek medical attention for herself, as you can see her in her boots today.
